There is a type of person that is constantly yearning for a cult. Looking to submit to something greater. Looking to lose their self in some community, in some thing, in some mission. At one point in time these people may have been the leaders of religions, the shamans, the priest, etc. But now they are recluses who cannot deal with the selfhood of modernity. They are maladapted.
